MGM Launches ‘Gladiators 2000’ In Syndication At Natpe And Unveils New American Gladiators Broadband Super Site

On the heels of the ratings success of MGM and Reveille’s hit reality series “American Gladiators” on NBC, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.’s (MGM) domestic television distribution operation is bringing “Gladiators 2000,” the kids competition series starring a young Ryan Seacrest in off-network syndication.
“Gladiators 2000” is a half-hour series, which was shot in the 90’s as a companion to the original “American Gladiators.” In the series, teens compete in games that challenge their physical abilities as well as their knowledge of nutrition, fitness and the human body.


MGM Acquires Domestic Syndication Rights To Tribune’s “Ron Hazelton’s Housecalls”

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.’s (MGM) domestic television distribution operation has acquired the U.S. syndication rights to Tribune’s popular home improvement series “Ron Hazelton’s HouseCalls” previously distributed by Tribune. This past season, “Ron Hazelton’s House Calls” was cleared in over 70% of the US. and MGM will utilize this year’s NATPE conference to launch renewal agreements for the popular home improvement series for the next two seasons.


Nominations for the 80th Academy Awards Announced Today

The nominations for the 80th Academy award were announced today y Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis and Oscar winner Kathy Bates. Ganis and Bates, who won an Academy Award for her lead performance in “Misery” (1990), announced the nominees in 10 of the 24 categories at a 5:30 a.m. live news conference attended by over 400 international media representatives.


Berlinale Competition 2008 Complete: Eight More Films

The Competition programme of the 58th Berlin International Film Festival is complete. In addition to the 18 titles already announced (press releases: Dec. 10, 2007, Jan. 9 and 15, 2008), the final eight Competition titles have been confirmed. The selection now includes the following production countries: Belgium, Germany, Finland, France, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Poland, Israel, Canada, USA, Brazil, Mexico, Iran, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China, as well as Hong Kong, China.

Bond 22 starring Daniel Craig starts production in the pinewood Studios

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions Ltd, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios announced today the start of principal photography on the eagerly anticipated 22nd James Bond adventure. Daniel Craig reprises his role as 007 in the film which is directed by Marc Forster and follows the success of CASINO ROYALE, the latest and highest grossing film in the series.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association today announced that the recipients of Golden Globe Awards in 25 categories will be revealed during an hour-long HFPA press conference at The Beverly Hilton to be covered live by NBC News beginning at 6:00 pm PST on January 13. “The 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards” NBC telecast and champagne dinner in The Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom is officially cancelled.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced 10 winners of Scientific and Technical Academy Awards, which will be presented at The Beverly Wilshire on Saturday, February 9, 2008.Unlike other Academy Awards, achievements receiving Scientific and Technical Awards need not have been developed and introduced during 2007. Rather, the achievements must demonstrate a proven record of contributing significant value to the process of making motion pictures.
